Wood truck bed

We just love the look of wood in a classic truck bed! It looks so classy and gives the truck a little something extra. This truck bed is from the 1967 Ford F-100 restoration we recently did. The color in the wood goes perfectly with the Holly Green paint the truck was painted. Many of the truck restorations we've done involve painting the truck bed the same color as the rest of truck. Our latest truck restoration was one of the few we've done that went with a classic wood bed instead. In between the wood boards are nice chrome dividers that also add to its visual appeal. Even the bolts are chrome to embellish the look a bit more. You can even ...

Completed Restoration: 1967 F-100

The 1967 Ford F-100 full restoration is now complete! This classic truck restoration has been an extensive restoration project for a few months now. Many restorations don't involve a complete disassembly where we take the cab and bed off the chassis, like we did here. For this one, we took the entire truck apart to repair every part and panel, and assembled it all back together. The truck originally belonged to the owner's grandfather. So, for sentimental reasons, he wanted to keep the cab of the truck. We definitely understand this way of thinking. We feel the same way about our cars, especially those that we remember driving 'back in ...

So much progress on the F100 Resto

Lots more progress has been made on the 1967 Ford F-100 truck restoration we've been working on. Aside from the smaller jobs we've gotten in and out in the last month, we have mainly been focusing on getting this restoration done. This classic restoration required a 100% disassembly job as every single part had to come off of the truck. We repaired the parts we had to work with, as well as using new parts ordered by the owner. The body work is done on these parts and they're all in primer. There has been a lot of body work done on this truck. We've been spending a lot of time on the cab of the truck, repairing rust and getting the body ...

Progress on the ’67 F-100 Restoration

Restoration on the 1967 Ford F-100 stepside truck is in full swing. As you can see, the truck started out green. It will be getting a new shiny 'holly green' paint job that will have it sparkling in the sun. Most of the body, including the hood and doors, was sanded down to bare metal. There was a lot of body work to be done. The shop definitely smelled like bondo for a couple days! All the body work done on these auto restorations is well worth it to get those smooth, flawless lines we need. After the truck is painted, you will be able to see every little ding or wave in a panel, so we make sure the body work is always done perfectly so ...

Chevy K-20 Pickup Truck Paint Job

The latest full paint job was done on a big 1986 Chevy K-20 pickup truck. It was to be painted back to it's factory-original colors; a brown and gold two-toned theme. The Before Pic... There was some body work needed before paint. All of the parts were taken off, including the bed, and sanded down and repaired. To prevent rust from popping up underneath the truck and on the bed, we undercoated it, and brush-coated a rust prevention coating called POR on the bed. The glass for the windows was also replaced, as was the rubbers for the windows and doors. After primer, the first areas to be painted were the back of the bed, that is pushed ...

Body repairs on cars involves a lot of prep work!

TD Customs does a lot of body repairs on cars that have just gotten into little fender bender accidents and need minor collision repair. There is a lot work involved in these jobs. Luckily, we have it down to a science at this point. Tim has years of auto body and paint experience. He will completely repair any body damage so that you'd never be able to tell there was an accident in the first place. Sometimes people are surprised by how much is involved in doing even minor body repairs on cars. There are a lot of steps involved, including the much needed prep work. When you watch the car remodel shows on TV, like Overhaulin' or Fast N Loud, ...

This is a '95 Land Rover Defender that has been stripped completely down, repainted a clean white color, and has gotten lots of new parts. This Land Rover restoration has been a complete, ground-up restoration. Since there was extensive work done on this this Land Rover restoration project, we've posted a few updates to cover all the different phases. There was a lot of parts to disassemble on this one, and body work to be done on some rust and dents and dings, which we wrote about here. From there it was primed and wet sanded, which we discussed in ...

Fiberglass repairs on the big rig

This is probably the biggest rig to come into the shop! And with the exhaust stacks, it doesn't even fit all the way inside. This Freightliner tractor trailer is in for some fiberglass repair work for some small cracks and holes in the body, and then painted back to original color. It belongs to a customer we have done a classic car restoration for in the past, and she continues to bring us all of her vehicles for any body work that is needed. We don't typically work on trucks this big, but when it comes to special requests, if Tim can do it, he will. Luckily, most of the work is in the front end, because that is all that will fit through the ...
