The body shop gets a spruce

Every once in a while, it’s time for a little spruce. We’ve slowly been making changes and cleaning up the shop, but this week we decided to redecorate the front office area of our body shop to make it more fun and inviting. One of the real motivators was that we got so much promotional stuff at the SEMA Show that we needed a place to show it all off. We got a lot of cool posters (quite a few signed!) and pictures, so we knew we wanted to completely redecorate the front office of the shop.

The Before…

We’ve been meaning to paint the front room for some time now, but have just been too busy. It’s easy to just stay focused on the auto body work that’s in front of us. So before we got into all the jobs we have lined up, we grabbed some paint and put up some coats of green.

It makes a big difference! What do you think?

The After…

A little Chromalusion chameleon paint on the light switches

Even the light switch plates got a little custom paint decoration. We had a little Chromalusion chameleon paint left over from a previous job, and decided to get creative. Tim painted the switches with a brush so you can see the brush strokes in a cool wave pattern. Depending on how you look at them, or if the sun is hitting them or not, they appear green, purple or blue. Not a bad little accent piece.

For those that don’t know, we have the front office, which was white with pictures of our work, as well as some metal signs, etc. Tim had practiced some airbrushing and flame work on the wall. The room wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything special. Then a small hallway into our main office where we write receipts and sit down with customers. Our main office was recently painted a nice blue color, and it’s decorated with pictures of past work, some license plates, metal flame cutouts, etc.

They say to dress for the job you want. Well, body work is a messy business, so we can’t necessarily dress up around here. So instead, we’ll dress the shop for the business we want. What’s a cool custom paint shop without a cool paint job inside? I can’t believe we waited this long to do it!

I’m sure we’ll be adding new things along the way. We have lots of pictures we took with celebrities at SEMA, and a frame that Tim painted with Lumilor. Once we get the frame its own battery pack, that will be going front and center with a picture of Tim and the guys from his Lumilor class. They were such a cool, talented bunch. We can’t wait to put the picture up in a Lumilor lit frame. It’s nice that we’ve gotten to take home small pieces of our trip, and can be reminded of our time in Vegas, SEMA and Lumilor training here in the shop now.

TD Customs is an auto body repair and custom paint shop in Mills River NC. We serve all surrounding areas, including Arden, Hendersonville and Asheville. We’ve even had plenty of customers travel from out of town specifically to come see us. If you’re in the area, stop by and check us out!
