Freightliner ready for paint
The auto body work is all done on the big rig. The Freightliner tractor trailer is now all sanded, masked off, prepped and ready for paint! This was definitely a quick job; in on Wednesday, painted by Friday, and the customer will be able to pick it up on Monday.
This was a full paint job with some minor auto body work, specifically fiberglass repairs to a couple holes on the cab. With over a million miles on this big rig, it deserved some TLC in the ways of minor repairs and fresh paint to keep it looking brand new again.
For obvious height reasons, this paint job is going to be done outside like you see pictured rather than inside in the ...
Big rig: Paint and body work repairs, Turnaround time: 1 Week
We don't necessarily go out of our way to get these huge trucks in the shop (mainly because they don't fit all the way in), but these big rigs seem to be finding us these days!
We have another Freightliner tractor trailer with a large sleeper cab in for some body work repairs and then an all-white paint job. It sure is a big paint job. Today is sanding, masking and dismantling day.
And because we always love a challenge and making sure our customers are getting taken care of, and leave 100% happy, Tim is going to get this job done in less than a week! I'm telling you, turnaround time for this place is QUICK.
Check back next week for the ...
Will you paint my little red wagon?
Yes, we'll paint it!
This classic little red wagon needs some TLC and a new coat of clear to keep it looking as bright and bold as it should be. We can't have a faded little red wagon, now, can we?
Tim loves working on and painting anything with a motor, but it's also fun to see what kinds of things our customers will bring us to paint other than cars.
Sometimes when we get random custom paint requests like this, the customer will say that other auto paint shops turned them down, but we can never understand why. Yeah, maybe different textures and surfaces need to be sanded, primed or painted a little differently, but that's no big deal. ...
Color Changing Chromalusion Chameleon Paint
Sometimes one color just isn't enough. So, what's the answer? Chromalusion chameleon paint; a paint that can be a bunch of different colors depending on how the light hits it or how you look at it!
We had a customer come to us wanting to paint her front door a special color shifting paint called Chromalusion, or Chamelion paint. From different angles, it looks pink, purple, blue, or yellow, and sometimes all of the above.
We had some paint left over, so she decided to also paint her kitchen cabinet fixtures. Her kitchen is all white, with the Chromalusion chameleon paint on all the handles.
This customer told us that she is obsessed with ...
Fiberglass repairs on the big rig
This is probably the biggest rig to come into the shop! And with the exhaust stacks, it doesn't even fit all the way inside.
This Freightliner tractor trailer is in for some fiberglass repair work for some small cracks and holes in the body, and then painted back to original color.
It belongs to a customer we have done a classic car restoration for in the past, and she continues to bring us all of her vehicles for any body work that is needed. We don't typically work on trucks this big, but when it comes to special requests, if Tim can do it, he will.
Luckily, most of the work is in the front end, because that is all that will fit through the ...
Minor touch ups keep the classics looking new
The '61 Pontiac Bonnaville is back in the shop for a touch up on some old body work.
This is a big car - 22 feet long! That's bigger than Tim's old party boat, he says.
When we started in this business, the goal was to have a great client-base of people that loved our auto body work so much that they returned for all their paint jobs and collision repairs. We are starting to see a lot of customers come back for more touch ups and repairs, and to get work on their other vehicles done as well.
Repeat customers are a sign we're doing something right, and we are proud to say we have many! If you'd like to be one of them, contact us today!
Back to work
It's back to work after enjoying a week off over the 4th of July holiday. We had a great week in upstate New York, visiting family and getting to spend some time at the lake. It's always hard to get back into the swing of things after a nice vacation, but it's good to be home.
The shop is full and Tim is back to work. Next up is the full auto restoration on the Mazda truck. It's getting plenty of body work taken care of and a sparkling new paint job.
Check back for more updates as we try to put more attention into the TD Customs blog!
