TD Customs’ 2019 Calendar!

It's that time of year for a wrap up of our coolest paint jobs, restorations, or jobs from the previous year. We've been busy and are fortunate to have a lot to choose from! For January we have the 1931 Chevy Cabriolet that we did body work on and painted in parts. When this one left our shop, it was in pieces The owner had done a lot of work on the case, and wanted to assemble it himself. He also added a black vinyl top that compliments it really well. This classic car is a beauty! Read more about the '31 Chevy Cabriolet. In February, we're looking at the impressive Polaris Slingshot. The owner of the Slingshot came to us from over 3 ...

Two Tone SUV Paint Job

You don't see two toned SUV paint jobs everywhere. That's why they're so cool. They look custom, while still looking classy and fairly simple. This SUV is an older model Chevy Trailblazer. It was originally all blue, and nothing out of the ordinary. For this two tone SUV paint job, we kept the blue on the bottom and painted the top silver. Painting just the top or bottom part of a vehicle is a good way to change up the look of your vehicle on a budget. Keeping one color the same lets us not have to paint the inners & door jambs. This means a lot less work on our part because we aren't taking the doors, hood and trunk lid off the vehicl...

’67 Ford pickup back for Paint Touchups

In April 2016, we wrapped up the F-100 truck restoration and paint job. It was a big restoration that included a lot of rust repair and body work. We did repairs to the cab and chassis, but replaced the bed and most of the floor pans. It has come a long way from what it was when it came into the shop. In the picture below, you can see how bad the floor pans were rusted out. We replaced the floor pans, welding in new ones. Like most truck restorations, this was a frame-off restoration. This means we did the repairs with the cab and the bed detached. All parts came off of the truck and were repaired of any rust damage and body imperfecti...

2018 Mountain Motor Show featuring TD Customs’ Lumilor

Saturday was the 3rd annual Mountain Motor Show at the WNC Ag Center in South Asheville. We've been going since it started, and it's always been a good time. TD Customs is located in Mills River, right down the road from the Ag Center, so we always like to go to the car shows in our neighborhood. The Mountain Motor Show is a big car show that shows off cars, trucks and motorcycles in different categories. They range from Best Classic to Best Hot Rod, among others. Cars are displayed both inside and outside. Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day, so it was perfect to show off all the cars under the sun, as well as under the indoor bright lights....

’90 Tacoma Refinished to Original Paint

One of the recent paint jobs we did was a '90 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. The truck was being done for a soldier overseas in the military. We were able to communicate with him via phone and email, and his parents brought and picked up the truck. He's seen pictures of the finished product, and is excited to have a beautiful, redone truck to come home to. We did a full exterior restoration and factory-original paint job on this one. There was body work that needed to be done, as well as some rust repair on the body and the frame. For the frame, we repaired the rust and applied an anti-rust undercoating to the entire underneath of the truck. ...

Front End Collision Repair

While we are best known for our full paint jobs and classic restorations, we also stay busy with collision repair work. These jobs are typically in and out in just a few days. Some include repairing dents and other small areas that were damaged in the accident. Others require replacing the damaged areas with new parts and doing the body work to get it straight again. In the case of this 2011 GMC Sierra pickup truck, the front end was badly crushed and caved in. We needed to replace quite a few parts, including the hood, fender, front bumper, headlights, grille, radiator, etc. We order the new parts we need, get them assembled on the truck, ...

TD Customs’ 2018 Calendar

Every year we put together a calendar of our best and most favorite restorations and paint jobs we've done that year. It typically includes our bigger restorations and custom paint jobs. This year we had a lot of pictures of our work to choose from. Take a look at this year's calendar... ~ January ~ This white 1987 Chevy Silverado came in with worn paint and rust damage, needing a full paint job. We replaced cab corners, repaired all the rust and body damage, and replaced all the glass. We also cleaned and undercoated the frame to keep rust from returning, and of course, gave it a fresh factory-original paint job back to white. Click Here to ...

Complete Bed-Off Truck Paint Job

When you love your truck, but it needs refinishing and fresh paint, bring it to TD Customs! We do full paint jobs all the time, like this complete bed off truck paint job. The '91 Ford Ranger came in with rust, sun fading and some other random body damage. Our job was to repair all body dents, rust, and refinish it back to factory - just how it looked back in 1991. Complete Bed-Off Truck Paint Job When we do full paint jobs on pickup trucks, we typically always remove the bed from the chassis. Doing this allows us to get to every part of the truck, including the back of the cab and front of the bed. We take every part off of the vehicles we ...

Line-X: Our favorite bedliner coating

For the Jeep we recently refinished, we had a Line-X Protective Coating applied to the floor and bed. Initially, it was just painted white like the rest of the Jeep. But with the Line-X coating, it gives it a much nicer look and protection from the elements. Line-X Protective Coating Line-X is the first spray-on bedliner that comes with a lifetime warranty. The coating permanently bonds to the truck bed. This allows the surface to be completely sealed from water and dirt. No more worrying about rust or corrosion from drop-in bedliners. We took the Jeep to a Line-X Protective Coatings branch in Canton, NC, and were able to pick it up a day ...

Classic 1940 Ford: Refinish & Paint

The 1940 Ford pickup truck is ready after body work and full paint. The truck came in with the same color scheme; light green with the dark green fenders and running boards. They are not the factory-original colors, but they look great and really compliment each other. All the parts come off the truck to be worked on and then painted. The fenders on these old classics are nice and rounded. When we do body work, we make sure the lines are nice and smooth, and that there are no blemishes. There is a lot of sanding and prep work that go into making sure each one of these pieces is perfect before paint. Once Tim is happy with how all the parts ...
