Dump Truck Paint Job

We've had a big job in the shop this past week - a dump truck paint job! This dump truck is a Ford F-700 that needed a fresh coat of paint. The cab and the hood of the dump truck were painted a bright white color. The bed was painted a simple grey. Large utility vehicles like this F-700 in for a dump truck paint job are not what we typically have in the shop. However, as you can see, we can easily accommodate for one. We pull out the scaffolding and are good to go. We sand down the entire body of the truck, and repair any damage we find. This particular dump truck paint job didn't have too much body damage, so we mainly just sanded out ...

Utility truck paint job

You gotta keep the work trucks clean! This 2007 Ford F-450 bucket truck just needed some body maintenance and fresh paint to get back to its original condition. This was a quick paint job back to the factory white paint it came with. The owner uses this bucket truck for work. It needed a couple new parts, but mainly it just needed some minor rust and body work repairs and for it to be repainted. Customers notice things like how a company's work truck is holding up, so it was time to refinish it. There wasn't much body damage, so the repairs were minimal. We did the cab and the back box, sanding it down, refinishing it and getting it ready ...

Quick Pickup Truck Paint Job

This is a pretty cool truck - a 1987 Chevy Silverado, shortbed, 4x4. The truck came to TD Customs with rust on many of the panels and fading white paint. Our job was to repair all rust and body damage and give it a fresh coat of white paint. We took the bed off the chassis to do complete body work repairs to the cab and the bed. We also cleaned up the chassis and sealed it with an anti-rust application. The following is the Before pic.. It sure looks a lot nicer after painting the cab and sealing the chassis, as you can see below. The turnaround on this truck was quick. It only took a week to get all the metal work, body work ...

Full restoration: ’82 F-150 pickup

The 1982 Ford F-150 pickup truck is one of our latest restorations that we've been working on. This one has been in the works for a few months now, needing more attention than some of the others. The last time we saw the F-150 on the blog was here, and the bed and the cab were being worked on separately. After that, we painted the cab and the front side of the bed (the part that sits up against the cab). Once these were painted, we put the bed back on the chassis to make it a complete truck again. This makes it easier to paint the entire exterior. Especially with two toned paint jobs, it's better to  have everything in place before ...

’79 Sierra: Rust repairs & Fresh paint

This 1979 GMC Sierra Classic pickup truck was in the shop for some rust repairs and a fresh paint job. The customer wanted to keep the truck looking original with the same paint scheme. With all the rust, it was just time to do some maintenance on the truck to get it looking new again. There were some minor dings and waves that required body work. The truck was speckled with rust on the roof and other areas of the truck, such as the driver's side door. Since the rust was mostly just speckled, this was the best time to get to it. Taking care of rust early on, before it has a chance to create large holes, is a good ...

Progress: ’82 F-150 Restoration

The '82 Ford F-150 truck restoration is in full swing. This is a factory original restoration, so it'll be getting refinished and painted back to the original blue and white paint scheme. 1982 F-150 Factory Original Restoration Let's start with the Before picture... There is quite a bit of rust, so we're repairing it all, as well as refinishing the entire truck. We're also applying an anti-rust undercoat to the chassis. The cab has been repaired in certain areas, and is now in primer. The chassis has also been given a thick coat of the powerful, anti-rust application, POR-15. Once surface rust has been removed, we can apply this ...

1951 Chevy Truck Restoration

Look what we've got back in the shop! The beautiful 1951 Chevy truck we restored and painted in pieces a few years ago. This restoration was done a little differently than most because the owner wanted to put the truck back together himself. He would bring us a set of parts and as we completed them, he'd bring us another, until we finished every part down to the cab. Here is how we last saw the '51 Chevy truck... This truck is very sentimental for the owner. His late father bought the truck brand NEW back in 1951. In 2013, he brought the truck to us to restore and paint, but wanted to put the truck back together himself. He enjoys ...

Truck bed wood – Staining & Installing

We got a very cool looking 1966 Chevy C-10 truck in for a new stained wood bed this week. Papa Noel owns this beautiful classic truck that is used for transporting and displaying Christmas trees from their various farms. Fun Fact: A Christmas tree from Papa Noel's farm was chosen to be the centerpiece in the White House in 2012. What an honor! They have tree farms all over, including some in the Blue Ridge Mountains here in the Asheville/ WNC area. This is what the bed of the 66 Chevy truck looked like when it came in. It had a steel bed that was actually covering some very old wood from a previous wood bed. This truck was just ...

Let’s make your car different than all the rest

Have you ever walked up to a car thinking it was yours, and it wasn’t? Ever wish your car could stand out from all the rest? Well, you don't have to go out and buy a brand new vehicle to get that new look. If you’ve been feeling down on your car and thinking it’s time for an upgrade, consider sprucing it up through a paint job or some custom modifications. Specific makes and models come in set colors. Maybe you get your choice of a few different paint options, but that's it. Plus, buying a new vehicle is costly, and you’ll eventually run into the same scenario of seeing “your” car everywhere you go. It doesn't take a ...
