Mountain Motor Show ~ 4.3.17

The Mountain Motor Show was this past weekend at the WNC Ag Center, and there were a lot of awesome looking cars and trucks to be seen. It was a good time! Cars were displayed both inside and outside, with the ones inside being judged for best in their categories, as well as Best in Show and People's Choice. There was a good variety of old classics and new modified vehicles. The car that stole the show with two awards was a '37 Studebaker. TD Customs was there with the El Camino on display. It has our own custom blue and silver paint job, with lace print on the roof, the side sail panels and the scallops on the hood. Quite a few people ...

TD Customs Featured in Bold Life Magazine

TD Customs was featured in the March edition of Bold Life Magazine. We are excited to share our story with the Hendersonville and Asheville communities. The article covers Tim's start in the industry and his passion for restoring cars. It discussed the collision repair and classic restoration work we do here at the shop, as well as some other interesting projects. In the article, we talked about Tim's grandma's infamous 1939 Chrysler (Ruthy) that we are currently working on, and how important the restoration is to the family. There was, of course, talk of our light up paint, Lumilor, that you can see on our motorcycle. TD Customs is the ...

Mountaineer Antique Car Show

The Mountaineer Antique Auto Club Car Show was this past Friday and Saturday at the WNC Ag Center. They had lots of classics and modified cars out in the front grass area, a swap meet of different car parts, and the car corral in the back building, which is where we were. The car corral included some of the most impressive cars; some of which were for sale, others just on display. I must say, it was the best spot to be since it was so hot out this weekend and the building had A/C! TD Customs was set up in the car corral area, displaying the TD Customs El Camino and the Lumilor lit motorcycle. We asked for a back corner of the indoor area so we ...

The TD Customs Motorcycle

TD Customs presents our own custom painted motorcycle with blue lace effect and electroluminescent paint. The TD Customs Motorcycle We recently sold our older bike, and bought this newer one - a 2004 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 from 191 Highway Motorsports. When we were looking at different bikes, we knew we wanted one with a large tank and hard bags that we could paint to really stand out. This one is bigger and more comfortable, and of course got a brand new custom paint job right away. Our TD Customs Motorcycle is all about the paint. It is painted to match the El Camino, with the same custom mixed blue paint, and the matching lace pattern ...

The TD Customs El Camino

The El Camino has been painted! Rebuilding Tim's El Camino has been a dream of his for awhile now. The ELCO is his daily driver, but also the car that showcases his paint and body skills. We're excited to have made the time to work on our own car, and look forward to a summer of car shows! The paint job is completely custom, of course. Tim has been dreaming of a certain paint color for his car for a long time, but could never find just the right color. So instead, he worked with our paint specialist to custom mix his own color. He found a blue paint and added drops of violet in little by little to get just the right hint of purple. ...

Getting ready for summer car shows!

Summer car shows are coming up and TD Customs is getting ready to show off the El Camino and matching motorcycle! The El Camino was in a couple car shows last year with the black/ red ghost flame paint job, and got some great attention. Everyone loved the ghost flames and how you really couldn't see them until you walked right up to the car. Then you see just a subtle touch of red ghosted out flames on the hood. This year, we've restored the El Camino, changing up the paint job and putting a kick ass performance motor in it. We are excited to bring it out and show off the brand new paint! Here is what the ELCO and the motorcycle look like BEFORE ...

El Camino rebuild is under way!

The El Camino rebuild is officially under way! We've finally been able to make some time to get the TD Customs El Camino in for a full restoration and a new, next level custom paint job. Everything is getting overhauled. Even the motor is going to match the paint job. You don't see many motors like this one... The first priority was to get it completely sanded down and ready for paint. This included doing the body work on some of the waves in the panels and random dings here and there. It was already pretty straight since Tim had done body work when painted it before, but there's always more that can be done to get it perfect. The El ...

Saying goodbye to the El Camino as we know it

The TD Customs El Camino There are big changes happening to the El Camino. We are talking complete restoration, from the motor to the body and paint. And let me tell you, both the motor and the finished paint work are going to blow your mind. The current (soon to be 'old') paint job is jet black with red ghost flames on the hood. The flames are ghosted in so well that you only see them when you get right up on the car. Otherwise, the entire car looks black. It's been fun to see people walk by admiring the car, and then realize that it gets even better with the custom flames hidden in there. It's hard to capture the flames on camera. ...
