El Camino rebuild is under way!

The El Camino rebuild is officially under way! We've finally been able to make some time to get the TD Customs El Camino in for a full restoration and a new, next level custom paint job. Everything is getting overhauled. Even the motor is going to match the paint job. You don't see many motors like this one... The first priority was to get it completely sanded down and ready for paint. This included doing the body work on some of the waves in the panels and random dings here and there. It was already pretty straight since Tim had done body work when painted it before, but there's always more that can be done to get it perfect. The El ...

Saying goodbye to the El Camino as we know it

The TD Customs El Camino There are big changes happening to the El Camino. We are talking complete restoration, from the motor to the body and paint. And let me tell you, both the motor and the finished paint work are going to blow your mind. The current (soon to be 'old') paint job is jet black with red ghost flames on the hood. The flames are ghosted in so well that you only see them when you get right up on the car. Otherwise, the entire car looks black. It's been fun to see people walk by admiring the car, and then realize that it gets even better with the custom flames hidden in there. It's hard to capture the flames on camera. ...

The MGB is yellow no more

The 1973 MGB Roadster has been painted! Originally a bright yellow, the car got restored and painted a fresh blue/ teal color. This restoration didn't take as long as most because there wasn't as much body work as we typically find. The car also came partially disassembled, so we didn't have to take care of the small parts, like the door handles, lights, grill, etc. And the car is very tiny! Here is the Before... There was a lot of sanding to be done with this one. Don't let the size of the car fool you; there's still a lot of surface area that had to be completely sanded down. It was all hands on deck as we spent a few days sanding on ...

But be sure to Like us on Facebook! so it doesn't happen again... ;) Yesterday we had a designated Lumilor day where we focused solely on a few light up paint jobs. We’ve got three projects we’re working on; a fully lit helmet, a simple flat panel, and a guitar. Each of these projects were lit in the aqua LumiColor. The guitar will be getting a top coat paint job with some music note accents, while the flat panel is going to be used for a local artist who wants to experiment with her own ...

Lumilor Featured on Science Channel’s ‘Outrageous Acts of Science’

The illuminating paint, Lumilor, was featured on the Science Channel this weekend! The show, Outrageous Acts of Science, did a countdown of several top extraordinary inventions that utilize science in the most amazing ways. Which brings us to our favorite invention, Electroluminescent Paint! Developed in Ohio by Darkside Scientific, Lumilor is an electroluminescent coating system that makes anything into a light. "What we've done with our product is fundamentally re-engineered light so that you can have an object that produces light without changing the object at all," said Shawn Mastrian, CEO of Darkside Scientific. "Just by painting the ...

Light up paint on the Harley (aka Babydoll)

The first LUMILOR electroluminescent paint job to leave TD Customs, folks! This 2002 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Classic, affectionately known as Babydoll, got a special little detail added to the fairing this week. We painted the name 'Babydoll' in the electroluminescent paint, Lumilor, so it can light up at the flick of a switch. Lumilor is an Electroluminescent Coating System that allows us to paint light onto almost any surface. The paint contains conductive particles that allow it to light up when electrically charged. It also sprays on like regular paint so it can be turned on and off with a simple switch, so you can decide when ...
