The Helmet Halo

The Helmet Halo is a new portable motorcycle helmet holder that travels easily and protects your helmet from dents, scratches, and the possibility of theft. We had the pleasure of meeting Helmet Halo Owner and Asheville local, David Turner, a couple weeks ago. He brought a few Helmet Halos into the shop for us to display for our motorcycle enthusiasts. David designed the helmet halos after he cracked the mouth-piece vent on his helmet when it fell. It was a small, yet pricey replacement. Helmets are bound to take a fall here and there, so a helmet holder reduces the risk of it falling off the bike or the table or wherever you end up riding to. ...

Let’s make your car different than all the rest

Have you ever walked up to a car thinking it was yours, and it wasn’t? Ever wish your car could stand out from all the rest? Well, you don't have to go out and buy a brand new vehicle to get that new look. If you’ve been feeling down on your car and thinking it’s time for an upgrade, consider sprucing it up through a paint job or some custom modifications. Specific makes and models come in set colors. Maybe you get your choice of a few different paint options, but that's it. Plus, buying a new vehicle is costly, and you’ll eventually run into the same scenario of seeing “your” car everywhere you go. It doesn't take a ...

Two-tone custom painted wheels

Painted wheels give you the option of adding a pop of color or integrating a certain paint scheme throughout the details of the car. Painting wheels is an easy way to make them your own. Painting them to your liking may be preferable to purchasing new ones or keeping ones that don't go with the rest of the car. The painted wheels above were done for the '70 Trans Am restoration we've been working on. They are painted a two-toned color scheme; silver on a gunmetal metallic grey base. As you can see in the picture, the paint really gives them a little something extra without going over the top. A little color on the wheels of your car can ...

New paint looks to shine light on motorcycle safety

FOX Carolina 21 visited TD Customs in Mills River to show the community what Lumilor electroluminescent paint is all about and how it can help motorcyclists be safe while they're out riding. There were two videos featured on their evening news program, and an article to accompany it. Check out the article below. --- GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - There's a new kind of paint on the market, and it's helping to raise awareness about motorcycles on the road by making the bikes more visible. It's called Lumilor paint, and there are only four shops in the country that can apply the special paint. One is in our area. TD Customs is owned by Tim ...

Getting a perfect color match

Matching and blending paint to bordering panels can sometimes be tricky, but it's an essential part in touching up small areas that need attention without having to repaint the entire car. This week we got a 1968 Camaro SS in that just needed a door repainted. The owner recently had another body shop in our area repair and paint the door, but the color match was not right. As you can see in the picture, the door is a darker color than the rest of the car. They didn't want to bring it back to the other shop, so they brought it to us. The paint code from the car's VIN didn't pull up an exact match, so Tim had to bring the car to our ...

Last week, the Asheville Citizen-Times came out the TD Customs in Mills River to talk about our Lumilor lit motorcycle. We discussed how the paint works, how we've gotten started with it, and how great of a safety feature it is for motorcyclists. It's been great getting the word out about Lumilor and what we can do with it. Below is the full article. Local shop applies glow-in-the-dark paint to motorcycles Emily Patrick, Asheville Citizen-Times, July 7, 2016 When Mills River auto body mechanic Tim Donaghue drives his glow-in-the-dark cruiser at night, passing motorists point and wave. They certainly see him, and that's his goal. Donaghue ...

TD Customs was featured on FOX Carolina News 21 this week, showing the Asheville and Greenville communities what an excellent safety feature electroluminescent paint can be on a motorcycle. Lumilor is a new paint product that lets you add light to your bike as a safety feature, as well as having a totally new way to customize the look of your motorcycle. Mountaineer Antique Car Show

The Mountaineer Antique Auto Club Car Show was this past Friday and Saturday at the WNC Ag Center. They had lots of classics and modified cars out in the front grass area, a swap meet of different car parts, and the car corral in the back building, which is where we were. The car corral included some of the most impressive cars; some of which were for sale, others just on display. I must say, it was the best spot to be since it was so hot out this weekend and the building had A/C! TD Customs was set up in the car corral area, displaying the TD Customs El Camino and the Lumilor lit motorcycle. We asked for a back corner of the indoor area so we ...
