Items to include in your Emergency Roadside Kit
Having an emergency roadside kit in your car is important because accidents do happen, and you will thank yourself for being prepared if you are ever in that situation. We never plan for things to go wrong, for our cars to break down, or for us to be stuck on the side of the road. But preparing for such an event can make a world of difference if something ever happens. Even if you have roadside assistance with AAA, it’s just a little backup just in case. Take the time to think about your emergency roadside kit now, so if you ever need it you aren’t stuck in your car wishing you had put together a little kit of the things you need. You can even buy a complete emergency roadside kit in stores.
Items to include in your emergency roadside kit:
- Blanket
- First aid kit
- Jumper cable
- Flares
- Reflective warning triangles
- Duct tape
- Swiss Army knife
- Tow strap or rope
- Tire gauge
- Cat litter for tire traction
- Poncho or rain jacket
- Windshield scraper
- Flashlight with extra batteries
- Cell phone charger, portable if possible
- Water bottles
- Snacks
- Got kids? Stock up on snacks, toys, extra clothes, diapers, medicines, etc.
Include any items that you and your family may need in the event that you are involved in a collision or skid off the road and have to wait for assistance. Be prepared. You know the old saying, “Failing to plan if planning to fail.”
