1967 Ford Mustang: Bodywork & Paint

The 1967 Ford Mustang has been painted, and looks great! The owner picked custom colors for the classic car. One is the Sonic blue pearl color we see on the main body. The other color is a grey/silver color for small accent pieces, such as all the trim and exterior pieces. When we last updated the blog, the Mustang's inner door jambs and underneath the hood and trunk had been painted, and the car was in primer. Here it is all put together and ready for fresh paint. There was body work needed all over the car, specifically on the hood, the roof and the trunk lid. To see more on the body work part of this classic restoration, check out ...

Lots of rust to repair on this one!

The rust repair work on the Isuzu Trooper was a bit of a challenge because of how much rust there was. While other Asheville auto body shops may turn down larger rust repair jobs like this, we are happy to repair troublesome rust. There was a lot of metal work done on this one in the last couple weeks. Here are the Before shots of the Trooper's rust. You can see the rocker panels on both sides needed new metal. The rear quarter panels needed patching as well. Rust spreads very easily. As you can see from the pictures, we took off the old corroded metal and got rid of all the existing rust. It is definitely a messy job repairing ...

Full restoration: ’82 F-150 pickup

The 1982 Ford F-150 pickup truck is one of our latest restorations that we've been working on. This one has been in the works for a few months now, needing more attention than some of the others. The last time we saw the F-150 on the blog was here, and the bed and the cab were being worked on separately. After that, we painted the cab and the front side of the bed (the part that sits up against the cab). Once these were painted, we put the bed back on the chassis to make it a complete truck again. This makes it easier to paint the entire exterior. Especially with two toned paint jobs, it's better to  have everything in place before ...

Progress Update on the 1967 Mustang

The latest classic restoration project in the shop is a 1967 Ford Mustang with some metal and body work already done. As you can see from the photo above, it was brought in by Top Notch Towing, our preferred towing company. Many of our older restorations come in on flatbeds since often, customers will get the body work and paint portion of the car done first, and any motor work later. The roof and the trunk lid have taken a lot of body work. The owner knows this car sat in a field for awhile, and suspects that some kids walked on top of it. Now it's up to our experienced body men to get the waves out and contour it until it is nice and ...

Help! Our paint cabinet is overflowing!

Hey everyone! TD Customs is running a special on motorcycle paint jobs. Our paint cabinet is literally overflowing with all kinds of cool, leftover paint. We've got many colors to choose from, including candies and pearls. So, if you would like to come help us use up some of this paint, we will charge only for our labor to apply it. Cost will depend on how much you want to get painted, either just the tank or all the tins, how much, if any, body work is needed, and the paint scheme you choose. Give Tim a call at 828-505-6603 to discuss what you'd like to have done. This special also applies to helmets and possibly other small items. ...

TD Customs’ 2017 Calendar

The TD Customs 2017 calendar is out! There are so many beautiful paint jobs and classic restorations that leave our shop. The calendar is a way they can live on and we can still see them! This is the 3rd calendar we've done, and we'll likely make it a tradition. Each year, we go through all of our restorations and big paint jobs and select the best 12 to go in the calendar for the upcoming year. It's a great way to show off our work all year round, and we tend to miss seeing some of the really cool cars we've done anyway. 2017 TD Customs Calendar We start January off with the 1968 LeMans we restored and painted this year, back to the factor...
