TD Customs to Become a Certified Lumilor Lab!

lumilor electroluminescent paint
It’s finally time to let everyone in on the super exciting new opportunity we have coming up!

TD Customs is proud to announce that we have partnered with Darkside Scientific to become a Certified Lumilor™ Lab™ able to paint with light! We are talking about Lumilor; electroluminescent paint that will light up at the flick of a switch.

Tim is always looking online for new paint ideas. About a year ago, he saw a video on YouTube for this electroluminescent paint. We’d never seen anything like this before, and most of our friends hadn’t either. We thought about how cool it’d be to be able to do these kinds of paint jobs, so Tim contacted Darkside Scientific about becoming a licensed Lumilor Lab™. They eventually sent him a message asking him to submit an application, and a few weeks after that, extended the offer for him to become a Certified Lumilor Lab™!

The LumiLor™ Labs Training Center is in Las Vegas, NV, so we will be going there for a 2-week training course on how to apply the LumiLor™ Electroluminescent Coating System at the end of October.

Being a Certified Lumilor Lab will allow us to acquire the electroluminescent paint and apply it to all kinds of cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. This paint can be applied to almost any 3-dimensional surface, regardless of material or contour, so the possibilities are endless. There is a lot of potential for custom paint jobs; ranging from cars, boats or motorcycles, to safety lights on a bicycle or emergency vehicle.

This is a fairly new product that has only been on the market since 2012. There have been other products offering glow in the dark paint, but none that light up with an electric current running through it. In 2013, Darkside Scientific unveiled its very first Lumilor motorcycle paint job at Daytona Bike Week. They unveiled the Lumilor Lit Car at the 2014 SEMA Show and won 4 Media Awards for Most Innovative Product.

Since this product is so new, there are very few shops that are certified to acquire and apply electroluminescent paint. TD Customs is getting in on the ground level of electroluminescent paint application and we will be one of the very first Certified Lumilor Labs in the country!

SEMA Show

Coincidentally, the annual SEMA Show, a huge automotive trade show, takes place the first week of November when we will be there for training, so we’ll be able to be there for that as well. Reserved for industry professionals, the SEMA show is a platform for tons of new products and ideas to be showcased. There are also lots of educational seminars that I (our one woman marketing team) will be attending while Tim is in training.

Tim has talked about the SEMA show long before the idea of Lumilor was ever presented to us, so we feel very lucky that these dates coincide and we will be able to attend!

TD Customs is getting pretty established as a custom paint shop, and we are very excited to add one of the newest technologies in paint to the list of awesome, custom services we provide!
