Fixing rust before it spreads

Fixing rust that arises is an important part in the maintenance of your vehicles. This week we did some rust repair on an 1989 Lincoln Continental. It only needed minor rust repair on the passenger side back quarter panel. As you can see from the Before picture, there were some cracks underneath the vinyl top. These cracks are from the paint shipping due to rust underneath. Once you start to see the little cracks and bubbles in the paint, it's a good time to bring your car in to get the rust repaired. Rust spreads pretty easily, especially if the car is often exposed to water or moisture. Fixing rust before it spreads will save you money in ...

Next Day Collision Repairs

Many collision repair jobs can be done with a one or two day turnaround. Since these jobs take much less time to repair than our typical restoration work, we are able to schedule them so that we can get to it right away and return it back to you as soon as possible. Why leave your car for a couple weeks? We don't believe that you should have to leave your car at the body shop for a couple weeks in order to get some minor damage repaired. When you do that, we suspect the car is likely out in the parking lot for half of that time, while in many cases,  you could still be driving it. Instead, we schedule our collision repair customers so that we will ...

Trans Am Restoration Update

We've been diving into the Trans Am restoration this week, getting the whole car stripped down to bare metal and doing body work on the areas that need it. We had stripped the paint off with a paint stripper compound to get most of it off. Then, we took each individual part and sanded it down to bare metal and started doing the repairs. Some parts needed metal work done, while others needed body work, and some both. The job is to get the car as straight as possible, removing any dents and dings and waves in the body. There was some metal work to be done on the end quarter panels. Rust holes were patched up with new metal and body work was ...

Rust repair: Patching in new panels

Rust repair is a necessary component to most restorations we do since many of them are on old classic cars that have been around for awhile. Rust repair is always easiest when caught early. However, we have repaired extensive rust damage on quite a few cars. When there is a good amount of rust, we generally cut out the affected areas, and replace them with new panels. We'll also spread on a coat of POR-15, an anti-rust paint product that keeps it from coming back again. We recently worked on a truck restoration that needed a lot of rust repair to the cab of the truck, so we decided to document the progress on it here. The floors had a lot of rust ...

Yellow MGB Roadster Going Green

Good things come in small packages, especially when we're talking about the classic MGB. This 1973 MGB Roadster is one of the next restorations we are working on. The MGB is starting out yellow and going to be painted a dark teal/ green color. It's always a little more fun to see a car go from one color to something completely different. This car is so little that it probably won't take long to complete. We've started sanding it down and getting it ready for body work. We will be manually block sanding the entire car, making sure to hit every inch so that the paint will go on nice and smooth so that no speck of yellow will be left on ...

So much progress on the F100 Resto

Lots more progress has been made on the 1967 Ford F-100 truck restoration we've been working on. Aside from the smaller jobs we've gotten in and out in the last month, we have mainly been focusing on getting this restoration done. This classic restoration required a 100% disassembly job as every single part had to come off of the truck. We repaired the parts we had to work with, as well as using new parts ordered by the owner. The body work is done on these parts and they're all in primer. There has been a lot of body work done on this truck. We've been spending a lot of time on the cab of the truck, repairing rust and getting the body ...

Body work touchups on the Camaro

The '73 Camaro came back for a visit! We love this car, from the paint job (obviously) to the motor and car itself. Very impressive ride our friend's got here. All that was needed on this job was a few body work touchups. There were a few blemishes on both of the doors of the car, so we did body work on them and got them perfectly smooth. Looking down the sides, you can tell how straight the doors are. Check out that reflection! The paint is a Victory Red paint color. It is so bright and bold. Since the body work was minimal and we only need to work on the doors, we were able to get this paint job in and out in 2 days. The customer was ...

Quick repairs: In & out in 24 hours

Quick repairs keep us busy and our customers happy. It's a win-win. Last week, we were able to get this Mustang in for some quick body repairs and provide a 24-hour turnaround time. We can't always promise one-day turnaround, but especially when it comes to collision repairs, we generally only have the car for a few days. We like to schedule these quick repairs so they'll be in the shop for only the amount of time we need to work on it. That way, you also won't be without your car any longer than necessary. This job called for body work repairs in several areas down the side of the car. Tim focused on the body work right when it came in, and got ...

Body repairs on cars involves a lot of prep work!

TD Customs does a lot of body repairs on cars that have just gotten into little fender bender accidents and need minor collision repair. There is a lot work involved in these jobs. Luckily, we have it down to a science at this point. Tim has years of auto body and paint experience. He will completely repair any body damage so that you'd never be able to tell there was an accident in the first place. Sometimes people are surprised by how much is involved in doing even minor body repairs on cars. There are a lot of steps involved, including the much needed prep work. When you watch the car remodel shows on TV, like Overhaulin' or Fast N Loud, ...
