Personalized, Custom Painted Tribute Helmet

This personalized, custom painted helmet is a gift for an employee retiring from a local law firm. His coworkers wanted to give him something special to remember them and the company by. Since he is a big motorcycle rider, they decided on a personalized motorcycle helmet. A helmet to remember We printed vinyl decals of the company's logo to put on the sides of the custom painted helmet. For the back, we made one that read, "In Recognition of Service to..." These two elements alone make the helmet personalized and one-of-a-kind. We love it when customers bring us their ideas for cool paint jobs on their motorcycles. Sometimes we'll ...

’67 Ford pickup back for Paint Touchups

In April 2016, we wrapped up the F-100 truck restoration and paint job. It was a big restoration that included a lot of rust repair and body work. We did repairs to the cab and chassis, but replaced the bed and most of the floor pans. It has come a long way from what it was when it came into the shop. In the picture below, you can see how bad the floor pans were rusted out. We replaced the floor pans, welding in new ones. Like most truck restorations, this was a frame-off restoration. This means we did the repairs with the cab and the bed detached. All parts came off of the truck and were repaired of any rust damage and body imperfecti...

Custom Painted Shop Sign from S10 Truck Hood

TD Customs is rocking a new shop sign! We needed a new one after the old one rusted from being in the rain too much. Turns out, if your hood is going to be vertically up against a wall, the rain is going to damage it more than if it's just on your truck. But, it gave us a chance to update the sign with a whole new custom paint job! It's fun to do random paint jobs where we can be creative. Since this is the sign for the front of the building, we had lots of freedom with how to paint it. We wanted it to stand out and be a cool representation of the custom paint we can do. We painted the sides and bottom edge a blue color with some micah in ...

Two Toned Motorcycle Paint Job

Two toned motorcycle paint jobs are a great way to spice up the look of your bike while still keeping it simple. This orange and black paint job combines an awesome sparkly orange color on top with solid black on the bottom. From certain angles, the orange has all kinds of shimmer and you can spot shades of yellow and even green when the sun hits it. We painted the entire bike for this paint job, which included the tank, front fairing, side covers, hard bags, and fender. The two hard bags were all orange, while the other motorcycle parts were painted the two-toned orange and black. When the bike came in, all of the parts were completely ...

2018 Mountain Motor Show featuring TD Customs’ Lumilor

Saturday was the 3rd annual Mountain Motor Show at the WNC Ag Center in South Asheville. We've been going since it started, and it's always been a good time. TD Customs is located in Mills River, right down the road from the Ag Center, so we always like to go to the car shows in our neighborhood. The Mountain Motor Show is a big car show that shows off cars, trucks and motorcycles in different categories. They range from Best Classic to Best Hot Rod, among others. Cars are displayed both inside and outside. Saturday was a beautiful, sunny day, so it was perfect to show off all the cars under the sun, as well as under the indoor bright lights....

’90 Tacoma Refinished to Original Paint

One of the recent paint jobs we did was a '90 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. The truck was being done for a soldier overseas in the military. We were able to communicate with him via phone and email, and his parents brought and picked up the truck. He's seen pictures of the finished product, and is excited to have a beautiful, redone truck to come home to. We did a full exterior restoration and factory-original paint job on this one. There was body work that needed to be done, as well as some rust repair on the body and the frame. For the frame, we repaired the rust and applied an anti-rust undercoating to the entire underneath of the truck. ...

’64 Ford Galaxie Full Classic Restoration

The 1964 Ford Galaxie full restoration is complete, and looks amazing. We did a lot of rust repair and body work to the entire car, and replaced a quarter panel. We got the bumpers rechromed so they look shiny and new again, had the upholstery completely redone, and of course, repainted it back to it's factory red color. The last time you saw the Galaxie, it had just been stripped down to bare metal and put in its first stage of primer. Read about the Galaxie's first stages in this '64 Ford Galaxie Progress Report. We've done a lot of metal and body work since then. Just when every panel was straight, we moved the classic car on to the paint ...

Polaris Slingshot Paint Job: Adding Flames

This Polaris Slingshot paint job came in for an updated look to the front end. Instead of the rebel flags, the owner wanted black flames to cover the front. This is the first Slingshot we've had the pleasure of working on. It's in between a motorcycle and a sport car, and is classified as a three-wheeled motorcycle. The owner came from over 3 hours away in Virginia to get the custom painted flames painted on it. He said he loves riding it through the mountains and it can go up to 150 mph! Polaris Slingshot paint job Tim carefully peeled off the rebel flag decals using with a heat gun, and sanded down the entire area in the front. He taped ...

Ghost Flame Paint Job on a Harley tank

Ghost flame paint jobs let you play around with the look of your motorcycle depending on the way the light hits it. If you like a subtle look that also pops and looks unique and eye-catching, ghost flames are a cool way to do it. In the shade or from certain angles, you typically won't see anything. And then when the light hits it, you see the flames or whatever design you have ghosted in. For this Harley-Davidson motorcycle tank, the owner went with a black base to match the rest of the bike. He was debating between painting silver stripes down the sides of the tank, or doing something more custom. After looking at some pictures online and of ...

1931 Chevy Cabriolet Done in Pieces

We recently had a 1931 Chevrolet Cabriolet in the shop! We absolutely love keeping older classics like this on the road. We don't have our usual Before photo because this one didn't come in all put together. We're happy to work with what our customers want, so not every job we do is the same. In this case, the owner enjoys working on these old classics and puts them together himself. What he needed from us was  the expert body work and paint. For those wanting to know what a '31 Chevy Cabriolet looks like, here is a picture plucked off of Google. (Unlike other shops *cough cough*), we never post pictures on our website that are not our work, so ...
