Refinishing work trucks
Refinishing and repainting your work truck keeps you and your customers happy. Work truck represent your business, so you need them looking professional and well-kept. Let us help!
Just like with any paint job, we will assess the body damage we need to repair. Getting the body back in shape is the first priority. Obviously paint on top of damage will jump out and look very bad. We will repair any rust, dents and dings, and make sure the panels are straight.
Once all the repairs have been made, we prime it, sand it down, and then it's time for fresh paint. The owner chose a dark green color for the paint. The cab of the truck looks brand ...
Tis the season for bike parts!
Riding season is almost here! We get just as excited to finally take our motorcycle out for a cruise when this time of year rolls around. The sun is out, and it's time for some wind therapy!
We always see a jump in motorcycle paint jobs right before Spring, and this year is no different. In the last month, we've done quite a few motorcycle paint jobs. Some are brought in for full paint jobs, others just need their existing paint jobs touched up.
One recent motorcycle paint job was a candy purple paint job for an '86 Honda Shadow 1100.
Another motorcycle paint job we did recently was a complete color change for a 2002 Suzuki GSXR crotch ...
2008 Toyota Camry Makeover
It's amazing how a new body kit and a custom paint job will transform your once-average car!
I was extra, extra excited to get this job in the shop because, as some of you may know, it is MY car!
This 2008 Toyota Camry started out with a stock light green paint color. Let's just say it did not represent how cool I really am... Just kidding, but it did need an updated look. Here is what the ol' lady looked like before...
There was some body work to start with. I may have dinged up a few areas on the car over the years (hey, it happens!), which we still needed to fix. With the new body kit, we replaced both the front and back ...
Mountain Motor Show ~ 4.3.17
The Mountain Motor Show was this past weekend at the WNC Ag Center, and there were a lot of awesome looking cars and trucks to be seen. It was a good time!
Cars were displayed both inside and outside, with the ones inside being judged for best in their categories, as well as Best in Show and People's Choice. There was a good variety of old classics and new modified vehicles. The car that stole the show with two awards was a '37 Studebaker.
TD Customs was there with the El Camino on display. It has our own custom blue and silver paint job, with lace print on the roof, the side sail panels and the scallops on the hood. Quite a few people ...
TD Customs Featured in Bold Life Magazine
TD Customs was featured in the March edition of Bold Life Magazine. We are excited to share our story with the Hendersonville and Asheville communities.
The article covers Tim's start in the industry and his passion for restoring cars. It discussed the collision repair and classic restoration work we do here at the shop, as well as some other interesting projects.
In the article, we talked about Tim's grandma's infamous 1939 Chrysler (Ruthy) that we are currently working on, and how important the restoration is to the family.
There was, of course, talk of our light up paint, Lumilor, that you can see on our motorcycle. TD Customs is the ...
Camper Paint Job: El Burro
This must be the season for restoring campers, as this is the second one we've done in the last month. Spring is almost here, and it's time to get those campers looking nice for warm weather camping trips!
Here is the Burro camper before... Not too bad, just needs refinishing to bring it back to that 'just like new' look.
This travel trailer paint job was pretty straight forward. We needed to repair the cracks in the shell of the camper and get the body refinished back to its original condition. The old decals were looking a little worn, so we removed them and replaced them with new ones. (Decals, of course, have to be replaced with new ...
Sure, we’ll refinish a shotgun
There are a lot of auto body repair shops in and around Asheville that like to stick to just the basics. Replacing parts, pulling out dents, etc.
At TD Customs, we love custom paint jobs that are slightly outside the box. It's a chance to do something different and creative, which is always fun. So, why not include gun restoration on the list?
It's not your average auto body shop job, but we are happy to offer custom paint services on a number of unique items.
Here is what the gun refinishing job looked like Before & After...
In the Before picture, you can see the gun is in relatively good condition. It did have some chips and ...
VW Wesfalia Camper Van Refinish & Paint
This VW camper van was a cool project, just because it's a little different than your average car or truck paint job. We were itching to get a peace sign on there, but this one was done classic, all the way.
This camper van was being refinished back to original condition and original colors. The top color is an off-white, and the bottom is their VW classic brown color.
Here is what it looked like before...
When the camper van came in, it needed some body work and rust repairs. We got started on the body of the camper right away. We sand the body down until it is smooth, and all the little waves are now straight.
It also needed ...
Family day with Ms. Ruthy (’39 Chrysler)
We've had a family project in the shop this year, a 1939 Chrysler that belongs to Tim's grandma. It's almost ready to be painted, so we've had a few family days to get it all prepped. A lot of sanding and bodywork perfecting need to be done before we can see some color. Once the paint is on, you'll be able to see any blemishes. Therefore, we are always very thorough before rolling it in the paint booth.
It's always fun to get together with family at the shop. Everyone gets something to do, even our 6 year old nephew! Julie and Ethan worked on sanding down the window trim pieces. These will be getting painted back to the faux wood finish.

Utility truck paint job
You gotta keep the work trucks clean! This 2007 Ford F-450 bucket truck just needed some body maintenance and fresh paint to get back to its original condition.
This was a quick paint job back to the factory white paint it came with. The owner uses this bucket truck for work. It needed a couple new parts, but mainly it just needed some minor rust and body work repairs and for it to be repainted. Customers notice things like how a company's work truck is holding up, so it was time to refinish it.
There wasn't much body damage, so the repairs were minimal. We did the cab and the back box, sanding it down, refinishing it and getting it ready ...
