Lumilor: A new artistic medium

lumilor light up paint tdcustoms
Lumilor is a new artistic medium. There are many possibilities for how electroluminescent paint can be used in the artistic world. With a paint product that can now produce light, artists are opened up to many more design options and capabilities. Not only for lighting up cars and motorcycles, Lumilor can be used for a number of different applications. This project involves creating a simple electroluminescent painted panel for a local Asheville artist who will experiment with different top coat paints herself. Lumilor is a multi-layer coating system that is ...

Motorcycle paint touch ups

motorcycle paint touch ups asheville nc
Sometimes the motorcycle paint jobs we get aren't for full custom designs, but for small motorcycle paint touch ups, such as the little dents or dings that happen along the way. We can touch up existing paint jobs by taping off certain areas or possibly blending in the new paint with the old. This will depend on what the motorcycle parts are like and what the design is. If we can work with it, we will, like in this case. These bike parts were white with a custom grey water mark design with black accents on them, which the owner wanted to save. We didn't do the custom ...

Yellow MGB Roadster Going Green

classic restoration 73 mgb
Good things come in small packages, especially when we're talking about the classic MGB. This 1973 MGB Roadster is one of the next restorations we are working on. The MGB is starting out yellow and going to be painted a dark teal/ green color. It's always a little more fun to see a car go from one color to something completely different. This car is so little that it probably won't take long to complete. We've started sanding it down and getting it ready for body work. We will be manually block sanding the entire car, making sure to hit every inch so that ...

Wood truck bed

wood truck bed asheville body shop
We just love the look of wood in a classic truck bed! It looks so classy and gives the truck a little something extra. This truck bed is from the 1967 Ford F-100 restoration we recently did. The color in the wood goes perfectly with the Holly Green paint the truck was painted. Many of the truck restorations we've done involve painting the truck bed the same color as the rest of truck. Our latest truck restoration was one of the few we've done that went with a classic wood bed instead. In between the wood boards are nice chrome dividers that also add to its visual ...

Completed Restoration: 1967 F-100

classic truck restoration asheville
The 1967 Ford F-100 full restoration is now complete! This classic truck restoration has been an extensive restoration project for a few months now. Many restorations don't involve a complete disassembly where we take the cab and bed off the chassis, like we did here. For this one, we took the entire truck apart to repair every part and panel, and assembled it all back together. The truck originally belonged to the owner's grandfather. So, for sentimental reasons, he wanted to keep the cab of the truck. We definitely understand this way of thinking. We feel ...

Video: How Lexus brought the RC F to life with Lumilor

lexus heartbeat car lumilor light up paint
Lexus Australia wanted to show people how thrilling it is to drive the new Lexus RC F. To do this, they painted the car with electroluminescent paint panels down the sides and wired the panels to a heart rate monitor on the driver. Next, they created an intense race track with sharp hairpin turns and had professional drivers race at night. The Lumilor lit panels light up in conjunction with the driver's heart rate monitor. As the driver's heart beats per minute increase, the panels on the Lexus flash faster. Lexus definitely achieved what they set out to do by ...

Mountain Motor Show 4.2.16

td customs restoration at the mountain motor show
We stopped by the Mountain Motor Show this weekend at the WNC Agricultural Center, and got to see some great builds! They had an indoor and outdoor section that held vendors and their booths, as well as those who registered their car to be included. Space was limited, so they only selected the top entries. And look what we ran into - one of our customers' restorations at the car show! A lot of our customers enjoy our local Asheville car shows and bring their cars out for others to see whenever they can. It's great to run into these cars that we put so much ...
