Custom Painted Shop Sign from S10 Truck Hood
TD Customs is rocking a new shop sign!
We needed a new one after the old one rusted from being in the rain too much. Turns out, if your hood is going to be vertically up against a wall, the rain is going to damage it more than if it's just on your truck. But, it gave us a chance to update the sign with a whole new custom paint job!
It's fun to do random paint jobs where we can be creative. Since this is the sign for the front of the building, we had lots of freedom with how to paint it. We wanted it to stand out and be a cool representation of the custom paint we can do.
We painted the sides and bottom edge a blue color with some micah in ...
Two Toned Motorcycle Paint Job
Two toned motorcycle paint jobs are a great way to spice up the look of your bike while still keeping it simple. This orange and black paint job combines an awesome sparkly orange color on top with solid black on the bottom. From certain angles, the orange has all kinds of shimmer and you can spot shades of yellow and even green when the sun hits it.
We painted the entire bike for this paint job, which included the tank, front fairing, side covers, hard bags, and fender.
The two hard bags were all orange, while the other motorcycle parts were painted the two-toned orange and black. When the bike came in, all of the parts were completely ...
Polaris Slingshot Paint Job: Adding Flames
This Polaris Slingshot paint job came in for an updated look to the front end. Instead of the rebel flags, the owner wanted black flames to cover the front.
This is the first Slingshot we've had the pleasure of working on. It's in between a motorcycle and a sport car, and is classified as a three-wheeled motorcycle. The owner came from over 3 hours away in Virginia to get the custom painted flames painted on it. He said he loves riding it through the mountains and it can go up to 150 mph!

Tim carefully peeled off the rebel flag decals using with a heat gun, and sanded down the entire area in the front. He taped ...
Ghost Flame Paint Job on a Harley tank
Ghost flame paint jobs let you play around with the look of your motorcycle depending on the way the light hits it. If you like a subtle look that also pops and looks unique and eye-catching, ghost flames are a cool way to do it. In the shade or from certain angles, you typically won't see anything. And then when the light hits it, you see the flames or whatever design you have ghosted in.
For this Harley-Davidson motorcycle tank, the owner went with a black base to match the rest of the bike. He was debating between painting silver stripes down the sides of the tank, or doing something more custom. After looking at some pictures online and of ...
TD Customs’ 2018 Calendar
Every year we put together a calendar of our best and most favorite restorations and paint jobs we've done that year. It typically includes our bigger restorations and custom paint jobs. This year we had a lot of pictures of our work to choose from.
Take a look at this year's calendar...

This white 1987 Chevy Silverado came in with worn paint and rust damage, needing a full paint job. We replaced cab corners, repaired all the rust and body damage, and replaced all the glass. We also cleaned and undercoated the frame to keep rust from returning, and of course, gave it a fresh factory-original paint job back to white.

Full Color Change Paint Jobs
Full color change paint jobs are what we, at TD Customs, do best. Whether you want a completely custom look or prefer to restore it back to its original condition, we can help. We love when restorations get a completely new look. There's nothing better than restoring a vehicle and giving it new life through a new look.
This Jeep Wrangler came in white and looking a little worse for wear. We needed to do some rust repair, body work, a bedliner coating, some other minor issues, and of course, paint.
Originally, the owners wanted to refinish the Jeep back to a clean white. When we mentioned we could paint it any color since we were already ...
#NoMoreYellow – ’64 Mustang Full Paint Job
The latest full paint job here at TD Customs has been this 1964 Ford Mustang. It came in a bright yellow color, and the owner knew she didn't want to keep the color.
The first order of business on this classic car was to strip the paint. We used a chemical paint stripping process to completely bring the car down the bare metal.
Follow the link to learn more about the chemical stripping process done on this '64 Mustang!
After the car has been brought down to bare metal, we can then get a good look at the car. We can see how the shape of the body is, and any imperfections that need to be repaired. We note these issues and repair them ...
Hello old friend! ’63 Studebaker back for Paint!
Oh hello, 1963 Studebaker Avanti. Nice to have you back for the rest of your paint job!
Awhile back we had this 1963 Studebaker Avanti in the shop for engine bay and door jamb repainting. The owner wanted us to get all the inner jambs and the engine painted, and then take it to get a motor put in, and then bring it back for the exterior paint job.
We don't usually do paint jobs in stages like this. However, if it works for a customer in terms of budget or their preferences, we are happy to do so. In this case, the owner specifically wanted the engine bay painted before the new motor was put in. We understand this logic. Putting in a new ...
Faux Burl Wood Grain Painting
Faux burl wood grain painting is a cool technique that lets us mimic the wood grain look on the interior panels of many classic cars.
We recently recreated the wood grain look on the 1939 Chrysler Royal restoration, our family project.
Tim's sister and nephew came to the shop to help with this project. It was fun to work on such an artistic project, and they were a big help!
First, Tim painted the dash and all the trim pieces a lighter brown/ tan color for the base. Then, we used an assortment of brushes and gel wiping stain to get the desired wood effect. We painted dark brown dots in several areas to recreate the look of those darker knots ...
