VW Wesfalia Camper Van Refinish & Paint
This VW camper van was a cool project, just because it's a little different than your average car or truck paint job. We were itching to get a peace sign on there, but this one was done classic, all the way.
This camper van was being refinished back to original condition and original colors. The top color is an off-white, and the bottom is their VW classic brown color.
Here is what it looked like before...
When the camper van came in, it needed some body work and rust repairs. We got started on the body of the camper right away. We sand the body down until ...
1967 Ford Mustang: Bodywork & Paint
The 1967 Ford Mustang has been painted, and looks great! The owner picked custom colors for the classic car. One is the Sonic blue pearl color we see on the main body. The other color is a grey/silver color for small accent pieces, such as all the trim and exterior pieces.
When we last updated the blog, the Mustang's inner door jambs and underneath the hood and trunk had been painted, and the car was in primer. Here it is all put together and ready for fresh paint.
There was body work needed all over the car, specifically on the hood, the roof and the trunk ...
Help! Our paint cabinet is overflowing!
Hey everyone! TD Customs is running a special on motorcycle paint jobs. Our paint cabinet is literally overflowing with all kinds of cool, leftover paint. We've got many colors to choose from, including candies and pearls.
So, if you would like to come help us use up some of this paint, we will charge only for our labor to apply it. Cost will depend on how much you want to get painted, either just the tank or all the tins, how much, if any, body work is needed, and the paint scheme you choose. Give Tim a call at 828-505-6603 to discuss what you'd like to have ...
Electric paint that lights up!
Electric paint!
The future of light is here, and it's in the paint!
Thanks to electroluminescent paint, we can now make your paint job light up on command. We connect wires from a battery source right to the paint itself. The paint is actually a complex system of about 6 different coatings that all work together to produce light when energized by power.
When you flip the switch (or press the button, or power it from your smartphone), the light from your paint job turns on. It's really that easy!
Take a look at how 'electric paint' looks in different shades of ...
Little Red Corvette: A Race Car
One of the latest paint jobs we've been working on is this 1981 Chevy Corvette. With its huge rear tires, roll cage, and now a bright red paint job, this race car is definitely an eye grabber!
The car came to us in primer. The owner had done some of the body work on his own, and painted the door jambs. He did a great job getting the body work started. We just needed to fix a few cracks in the fiberglass and finish up the minor body waves down the panels, and, of course, get it painted.
Here is the Before picture..
The paint color is Brilliant Red ...
Custom painted helmets
Custom painted helmets
Don't just wear any plain black helmet you picked up at the store. Let your helmet be another accessory for your bike rides. Custom painted helmets let you take the design where you want to go.
The blue/ purple/ orange helmet shows different paint design options. Here you can see some lace effect on the top, and some different fading and striping. Painting with lace is cool because there are lots of different fabrics of lace you can find. Each one is different, so you can choose the design you like best.
How to Choose?!
If you want a custom ...
Wheels getting a pop of color
We got some cool looking wheels in the shop for an updated look. These wheels and tires belong to a bright green colored Jeep. The customer wanted all of the silver accents to be painted bright green to match. These wheels are great for paint because there are so many tiny areas ready for that pop of color.
Here is what the wheels looked like Before...
In order to get all the silver areas green, we had to tape off everything but just these areas. The tape lines must be precise so that none of the paint gets where it's not supposed to. That'd really mess up the ...
1951 Chevy Truck Restoration
Look what we've got back in the shop! The beautiful 1951 Chevy truck we restored and painted in pieces a few years ago.
This restoration was done a little differently than most because the owner wanted to put the truck back together himself. He would bring us a set of parts and as we completed them, he'd bring us another, until we finished every part down to the cab.
Here is how we last saw the '51 Chevy truck...
This truck is very sentimental for the owner. His late father bought the truck brand NEW back in 1951. In 2013, he brought the truck to us to ...
Two-tone custom painted wheels
Painted wheels give you the option of adding a pop of color or integrating a certain paint scheme throughout the details of the car. Painting wheels is an easy way to make them your own. Painting them to your liking may be preferable to purchasing new ones or keeping ones that don't go with the rest of the car.
The painted wheels above were done for the '70 Trans Am restoration we've been working on. They are painted a two-toned color scheme; silver on a gunmetal metallic grey base. As you can see in the picture, the paint really gives them a little something ...
New paint looks to shine light on motorcycle safety
FOX Carolina 21 visited TD Customs in Mills River to show the community what Lumilor electroluminescent paint is all about and how it can help motorcyclists be safe while they're out riding. There were two videos featured on their evening news program, and an article to accompany it. Check out the article below.

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - There's a new kind of paint on the market, and it's helping to raise awareness about motorcycles on the road by making the bikes more visible.
It's called Lumilor paint, and there are only four shops in the country that ...
