So much progress on the F100 Resto
Lots more progress has been made on the 1967 Ford F-100 truck restoration we've been working on. Aside from the smaller jobs we've gotten in and out in the last month, we have mainly been focusing on getting this restoration done.
This classic restoration required a 100% disassembly job as every single part had to come off of the truck. We repaired the parts we had to work with, as well as using new parts ordered by the owner. The body work is done on these parts and they're all in primer.
There has been a lot of body work done on this truck. We've been ...
Ruthy Restoration: Full Clean
Ruthy looks like a fresh, clean slate now that we have cleaned out the entire car from top to bottom, as well as disassembled most of the parts. She's down to bare bones, and we can now start on the body work bit by bit.
We had several messy days of working on disassembly, so we needed to clean up that entire corner of the shop and every bit of dirt and debris within the car and engine bay. This entailed scrapping dried on debris and rust, and vacuuming it all out.
It's amazing the difference it makes just cleaning off the motor and engine bay. I'd say ...
Ruthy’s Restoration: Disassembly Continues
This Saturday, we had a family day at the shop working on Ruthy, a '39 Chrysler Royal. We're working on getting all the parts taken off the car, including the back fenders and the front grill, as well as taking off surface rust from the fenders and the floor of the car.
Disassembly is the messiest part of the restoration process. All of the parts need to be take off so they can be worked on individually. We took off the back fenders, which took a little work getting the bolts loose. We were pleasantly surprised at how easy many of the bolts came out on the car, but ...
Progress on the ’67 F-100 Restoration
Restoration on the 1967 Ford F-100 stepside truck is in full swing. As you can see, the truck started out green. It will be getting a new shiny 'holly green' paint job that will have it sparkling in the sun.
Most of the body, including the hood and doors, was sanded down to bare metal. There was a lot of body work to be done. The shop definitely smelled like bondo for a couple days! All the body work done on these auto restorations is well worth it to get those smooth, flawless lines we need. After the truck is painted, you will be able to see every little ...
Chevy K-20 Pickup Truck Paint Job
The latest full paint job was done on a big 1986 Chevy K-20 pickup truck. It was to be painted back to it's factory-original colors; a brown and gold two-toned theme.
The Before Pic...
There was some body work needed before paint. All of the parts were taken off, including the bed, and sanded down and repaired. To prevent rust from popping up underneath the truck and on the bed, we undercoated it, and brush-coated a rust prevention coating called POR on the bed. The glass for the windows was also replaced, as was the rubbers for the windows and doors.

Custom metal rails for a Bunk Bed!
It's always fun to see what we're going to get in the shop. It's not always just car repairs and motorcycle paint jobs; sometimes we get some unique requests. This week we've been working on a set of metal rails, a ladder, and some other attachment pieces for what is going to be put together as a really cool Bunk Bed!
These steel rails were sanded down to the pure metal, revealing a cool, custom swirl pattern. After lots of sanding, we painted a clear coat on top so all you see is the raw steel.
It's a very industrial type of look, but also very pretty. The ...
Another family day with Ruthy!
Ruthy has been getting a lot of attention lately with family being in town for the holidays, and she is loving it! Last weekend, we had another family day at the shop as Tim's mom and stepdad were in town and ready to do some work on Grandma's car.
The plan for the day was to continue with disassembly and start on floorpan repairs. Julie and Chris removed both of the front fenders and running boards. A couple screws gave us trouble, but nothing that can't be ground out.
Gail removed upper and lower inner wheel wells and ground the rust off of them with an angle ...
Day One of Ruthy’s Restoration – A Family Affair
As you may know, over Thanksgiving, we got a special delivery - a 1939 Chrysler Royal that has been in the family for years. The car was Tim's grandmother's first car, and has been in storage for the last 60 years. This year, Tim will be restoring the car to give back to his grandma the way she remembers it.
This Saturday, we had a family day at the shop working on Ruthy's restoration. It was the first time we've gotten a chance to devote a day to the car, and we got some help from Tim's sister, brother-in-law, dad, and friend, Matt. It's truly a labor of love, and ...
Ruthy is in the building!
We'd like to introduce you to Ruthy, a very special 1939 Chrysler Royal. This was Tim's grandmother, Pat's, very first car that she drove when she was 17 years old. It's been kept in a storage building in Upstate New York for the last 60 years!
Over this past Thanksgiving weekend, the car was brought down from New York to TD Customs' shop in Mills River, where we will be giving it a full restoration, painting it back to the original dark blue, and getting her looking brand new again. You know there will be a lot of love put into the work done on this car, ...
Land Rover Restoration: Complete!
The Land Rover restoration has been successfully completed and the customer was very happy! This is a '95 Land Rover Defender that has been stripped completely down, repainted a clean white color, and has gotten lots of new parts.
This Land Rover restoration has been a complete, ground-up restoration. Since there was extensive work done on this this Land Rover restoration project, we've posted a few updates to cover all the different phases. There was a lot of parts to disassemble on this one, and body work to be done on some rust and dents and dings, which we ...
